- Family Health West (Fruita, Colorado)
- Fruita's first hospital was located near the mortuary and run at first by the doctors James Moore Beard and Porter. Doctors White and J.S. Orr ran the hospital at a later date. It received funding from Walter Walker, publisher of The Daily Sentinel, and others. According to Cordelia (Hamilton) Files, who was friends with Dr. Beard, he ran a small hospital from his home in Cleveland, the town that adjoined Fruita, in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth centuries. It is unknown if the first manifestation of the Fruita Community Hospital was synonymous with the hospital run by Dr. Beard, or if the Fruita Community Hospital came into being at a later date. The hospital became known as the Lower Valley Hospital at some point, a name it carried in the mid to late Twentieth century. Cora (Schoolcraft) Sheets was a volunteer at the hospital for many years. Around 1966, the hospital added a nursing home. The nursing home lacked programming, so the hospital hired Sarah Wood as a director overseeing such things as mental and physical therapy, and arts and crafts. She held the position for over six years. On certain holidays, patients who were able came to her home for an all-day visit. The bill for much of the programming was financed by Wood and fellow volunteer Cora Sheets. Funds from bingo games supplied needed items and donations from the Methodist church helped with religious services. In 1973, the Federal government began sponsoring the program and Wood left the hospital. Today the Fruita Community Hospital is known as Family Health West. It provides several services catering to patient physical and mental well-being.

- Faquawah (Grand Junction, Colorado)
- Faquawah was a group of Grand Junction, Colorado business men who enjoyed camping in Southeastern Utah, near Canyonlands and Lake Powell. They traveled by automobile and spent a week camping. Membership required a ritual. According to member Al Look, the word Faquawah is derived from two Native American words (he does not specify from which Native American language the words come, and he may be speaking tongue in cheek). “Fa” means “three sleeps” or “far.” “Quawah,” says Look, means “you can’t get there from here.” Look describes Faquawah rituals in a recorded interview about the Faquawah group. The group camped near the Henry Mountains for several years. Members included Cecil Walt (local CEO with the Firestone tire franchise), Warren Turner (attorney), M.O. Brown (president of the First National Bank), Laird Smith (Vice President of the Valley Federal and Loan), Otis Schubert (Assistant Post Master and Faquawah cook known for his peanut pancakes), Arch Gould (missionary doctor in Western Colorado, Alaska, and the Navajo Nation), Lynn Ottinger (rock shop owner and guide from Moab), Al Look, and Mike Barnstead.
