In a retrospective video covering his period as Artist in Residence in the 970West Studio at Mesa County Libraries, Kyle Webb talks about his introduction to photography as a young person, his use of photography to augment his graphic design career, and his shift away from graphic design to photography in 2018. He describes his use of antique lenses adapted to his digital camera, how they enable him to slow down and consider his photographs more carefully, and their value to his artistic process and inspiration. He discusses the importance of light to photography. He speaks about framing a shot in terms of what story the scene before him is trying to tell. He talks about teaching programs on digital cameras and on texture in photography during his residency, and about the pleasure of introducing people to photography and to the photographer's mindset.
