A direct grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to the Salida Housing Authority supplied the money for the purchase of the land and the erection of a retirement community at a site just north of the Salida Hot Springs Pool. The executive director for the Salida Housing Authority, Harold Koster, and his committee had been working on the project for over two years. "This will be more than shelter and a place to eat.
