This building is associated with the commercial development of Salida in the 1890s and has housed a variety of businesses popular on North (Lower) F Street, including barbers, tailors, and tobacco shops. The 1903 city directory lists the John S. Scott barber shop and the John Lines tobacco shop here. Lines sold pipes, cigars, tobaccos, and smokers' articles. His most popular smoke was the 'Boodle'.
