Three newscasts, from KOTO Radio, in Telluride, Colorado: 2/26/1991: Jon Kovash & Debbie Laity: (First 10 minutes of recording) 1.) TELCO announces a new policy for buying a ski pass. 2.) The airport authority decides to buy the airport and land. 3.) Town council announces their plans for the new year, including the creation of Shandoka, providing down-valley bus service, hydro-power development, increasing airport security, the bike path development (on the spur), etc. 4.) David Smith complains of a yellow ribbon placed in the library, by a library staff member. The ribbon supports US soldiers. Smith wants it removed because he believes the library should not represent the war. 5.) The legislative political affairs committee is gaining support. 6.) A rescue crew was sent out for a Mill creek couple hiking. 2/27/91: Jon Kovash & Debbie Laity: Starts about the 10 minute mark of the recording, lasts 10 minutes) 1.) Telluride airlifts a victim of altitude sickness and a doctor from Telluride Medical Center discusses how altitude sickness can be prevented. 2.) KOTO ends its fundraising in record time and raises more money than expected. 3.) Telluride school district wants to create a long-distance learning program, in which classes will be provided remotely with video and sound recordings. 4.) Citations from the marshal's office, including accidents and an emergency plane landing. 02/28/1990: Jon Kovash (Recording starts at the 21:12 and lasts 20 minutes): 1.) The yellow ribbon, placed by a library staff member, to support her family member in the war, will remain at the library. The library board decided to keep the ribbon, that supports the safety of US soldiers, and not the war. 2.) Norman Squier speaks about dog traps to hopefully catch stray dogs, especially near the schools. 3.) Library director, Donna Clark, speaks about how new library computers (a new MAC) will help library patrons to search for information. 4.) Sheep mountain downsizing. 5.) TELCO season pass price increase. 6.) Sports preview: the Pro Mogul tour returns and Telluride High School basketballers prepare for the districts.
