: Emma Nardin Oberto's Oral History Transcription; This is the written transcription, as spoken by Emma Nardin Oberto, in her oral history recording, on April 14, 1991. The date of this document is July 1990. Emma was age 86 at the time of the writing. Emma discusses her childhood in Telluride, Colorado, during the early 1900's--including: the miner's strike from 1901-1904, the San Juan Hotel (started by her parents: Paul & Dominica Nardin), the San Juan Hotel, dances at the Liberty Bell, Swede-Finn hall, and Finn hall. She also discusses other social activities, during the 1900's, such as the dances at the Sheridan Hotel, and the Mule Skinners Ball, and speaks of taking the train from Ophir to Telluride (the Rio Grande Southern train). Emma mentions the mines that her parents had claims in (Butterfly mine, in Ophir, and the Nellie mine, in Telluride) and speaks of the Cornet Creek flood in 1914.
