James Bryan "Jim" Sherbondy
Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal information sheet photos of James Bryan Sherbondy, taken on November 27, 1937, by the Eagle County Sheriff's Department. Jim Sherbondy was born in Kremmling, Colorado, on December 24, 1919, and was 17 years old at the time of the photograph. He was a suspect in an armed robbery in Chicago and was hiding with his family in Red Cliff when he murdered Deputy Sheriff Oscar W. Meyer on November 2, 1937. He was captured in Hastings, Nebraska, and remanded to the Eagle County Jail. Sherbondy was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In October 1969, he walked away from a prison honor camp and was subsequently killed in a shootout with Denver police officers on November 28, 1969. [Bertillon card]
