Danford Noble Wheeler Jr.
He was born in Kansas to Danford Noble Wheeler, a Civil War veteran and photographer, and Lillie Belle Barrett, a homemaker. The family moved back and forth between Colorado and Kansas before finally settling in Grand Junction, Colorado, after Lillie passed away. Danford married Bessie Jane Jenkins on October 8th, 1910 in Mesa, Colorado. He worked in his father’s photography studio, later as a fireman for the railroad, and as a rancher.
Danford Noble Wheeler Sr.
He was an early Grand Junction, Colorado photographer with an office located at 202 South 4th Street. He was born in Pennsylvania to Hiram F. Wheeler, a distiller, and Betsey Wheeler, a homemaker. The 1870 US Census shows him living with his parents in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a carpenter. US Census records indicate that he lived in Grand Junction by at least 1900, where he was a photographer. The family lived at 112 Ouray Avenue. Born 1842.
Daniel "Dan" Roberts
A professor who taught Colorado and Asian History at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado when it was still Mesa College. He was descended from an early day Mesa County family. He was honored with CMU's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008.
