David Lavender
A prominent author who wrote "One Man's West", which was about Montrose County, Colorado and the Paradox Valley area. He accompanied Andrew E. Riddle on a cattle driving trip. Riddle described Lavender as a man who did not want to be a cowboy, but was fascinated by the life of a cowboy. Lavender's's grandfather, Judge Garrigus of Greeley, wanted him to be an attorney and secured his admission to Princeton. At that time, Lavender was writing short stories and pulp novels under the pseudonym Ralph Catlin and made enough money to pay for his own education. After getting a degree from Princeton, he got a Master's Degree in Literature from Stanford University. When his stepfather Ed Lavender died, Lavender and his family liquidated their cattle ranch. Lavender then became the head of the English Department at a boy's school near Santa Barbara.

David Mallette
A long-time resident of Telluride, Placerville, and Norwood, Colorado. Dr. Mallette was a dentist and continued to practice dentistry in Telluride and Norwood until about 2007. David has 3 children who all graduated from Telluride High School and went on to Graduate from the University of Colorado... One is presently an attorney, one an orthopedic surgeon, and the third is a ski patrolman in Telluride. Dr. Mallette spent 30 years as a part-time ski patrolman working with some of the same guys who saved his bacon in the Bear Creek incident. He is presently married to Cindy Farny who runs the High Camp Hut. As of 2021, David is retired and enjoys his 2 grandchildren. David and Cindy spend their time between Telluride and Gloucester, Ma.
David Miles "Dave" Davis
He was born to Bernard and Lela Davis in Boulder, Colorado. He grew up in Boulder, where he attended elementary through high school. At a young age, he decided that he wanted to become an artist. During high school, he became interest in sculpting under the tutelage of his art teacher, D.W. Cohen, who introduced him to welding techniques. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1968. He went to Mesa College in 1969 and became more adept at arc welding. After leaving Mesa College, a one-man show at the University of Colorado at Boulder launched his artistic career. He began working full time as a professional artist in 1986. Working with Grand Junction’s Downtown Development Authority, he started the Art on the Corner show in 1984. Art on the Corner, which includes both permanent and rotating pieces that are shown on Main Street and the broader downtown area, has been regionally and nationally influential. He became the director of the Western Colorado Center for the Arts on September 19, 1986 and stayed in the position until 1995. He helped the Art Center find sound financial footing again after an economic decline precipitated by the oil shale bust of 1982. He also helped the Center regain regional prominence. He helped organize several local art shows and programs. Toward the end of his life, he established a mentoring organization for young artists called Davis Art Process and Media Learning Center. As an artist, he displayed works in Grand Junction, Santa Fe, Taos, Boulder and elsewhere. He spent much of his artistic life as a sculptor but later transitioned to painting. David Mosier
David Mosier is a self-taught still-life and landscape artist. His landscapes may most reflect various Nordic painters and the Russian Levitan and unique, and variable. He has received many awards (e.g., Best of Show, Honorable Mention, etc.) in juried local and national shows (e.g., Champion of the Arts Award, Brush and Palette Club, Western Colorado Center for the Arts' National Contemporary Show, Rockies West National Watercolor Show); has had numerous paintings purchased by area institutions for their collections (e.g., St. Mary's Medical Center, Grand Junction, CO; Valley View Hospital, Glenwood Springs, CO; Mesa County Central Library, Grand Junction); and has sold two or more works to several private collectors.
