Dean Rolley
-
Named 2013 "Outstanding Citizen" by the Telluride Foundation, Dean has lived in Telluride, Colorado, for at least 33 years (since 1986).
Rolley is a tech-guy, a sound master, and a photographer. He has collaborated on documentaries about Telluride history and provided sound and video production for everyone from Telluride Film Festival to the Sheridan Arts Foundation’s Young People’s Theatre and the Sunset Concert Series. And thanks to his work at public access station Telluride TV, years of plays, town meetings and music festivals were documented.
Rolley has a degree in radio and television production from Northern Illinois University and had worked at a CBS affiliate in Illinois before moving to Telluride. After his move to Telluride, Dean eventually went to work for Telluride TV, for almost two decades. In the mid-2000, he left Telluride TV and started an audio and video production company, called DragonFire Productions.
Rolley has also worked on notable Telluride local documentaries, such as “YX Factor” and “We Skied It."
Dean also passes his time working for just about every festival — Mountainfilm, Yoga, Jazz, Wine, Mushroom, Bluegrass and The Ride, to name a few, setting up live feeds, dialing the sound and helping with video projection. He works with Telluride Theatre, educational programs, outdoor concerts and many nonprofits.
In his limited free time, he chases light with his camera, rides a motorcycle and takes in live music.
