As a 1970s Affirmative Action beneficiary, Bolon-Feeney found herself running the Saturday Desk which translated into being in charge of Saturday program operations and engineering for NBC. In 1974, Bolon’s responsibilities included airtime coordination of Saturday Night Live (SNL). In her Vail Valley Voices oral history, Bolon-Feeney reported that the NBC women professionals were very supportive of each other. Described as “authentic and warm,” Gilda Radner was Bolon-Feeney’s favorite SNL icon. During her final semester of college, Debbie Bolon-Feeney realized ceramics was her true artistic passion. In 1978, Bolon-Feeney relocated to Vail. Bolon-Feeney worked as a Ceramics Assistant for SAW until 1984; she also taught skiing for fifteen years and worked as a wilderness backpacking guide for the Meet the Wilderness program. As an Art educator, Bolon-Feeney encouraged children at Red Sandstone Elementary School in Vail for thirty years. She retired in 2016.
