Dennis P. Foley was born 14 June of 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts to Terese Lynch and Richard V. Foley. He grew up in the city of Worcester in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Foley was the youngest son of six children (four boys and two girls). After attending Indian Hill Elementary and Forest Grove Middle School in Worcester, Foley attended Worcester Technical High School (WTHS). Foley is currently the owner of that same restaurant and quips that he attended college at BYU (Bart & Yeti’s University). Kevin Foley, his brother and longtime Vail Town Councilman, helps run the Lionshead restaurant. In 2022, Dennis Foley partnered with Colby Lefebvre and opened Alpine Pizza Company, another Lionshead restaurant. Alongside his brother, Dennis Foley coordinates the youth basketball program at Red Sandstone Elementary School. As a community thank you to the Foley brothers for their many years of volunteer service, Red Sandstone Elementary gymnasium was christened Foley Fieldhouse in 2019. Between 2017 and 2018, Dennis Foley also served as Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Vail Mountain School. Foley thoroughly enjoyed this interlude and proclaimed it was “one of the best jobs I ever had!!” Dennis and Betsey Foley have two children, Jacob Foley and Lindsay Foley. He is an avid hiker who loves the Colorado Rocky Mountains and lives in the town of Vail. Foley reported that he “stayed here in the valley because of the people.”
Dennis Smith
Dennis Smith's representations of families, mothers, and children in sculpture have become a national treasure. His work is located in hundreds of public and private collections, in museums and public squares throughout the entire United States and many countries of the world. His work is a window into who he is and his views on life. His impressionistic style captures his exuberance for life and embodies his passion for transcendence – expressed through the spontaneity of children, reflections of the past and hopes for the future. At the core of Dennis’ work is the spirit of the human soul. We often see this represented through the innocence of childhood. To Dennis, the child is a metaphor for life. Children’s lives, as they explore the world around them, parallel our lives as adults as we discover our identity in this universe. Each piece by Dennis Smith captures this spirit, still vibrant and alive, frozen in the moment of discovery. Source: Artist's website
