According to educator and oral history project interviewee Dorothy Tindall, Elizabeth Hinton served as the county level administrator of the various school districts in Mesa County in the early 1900's, well before the consolidation of all the various districts into Mesa County Valley School District 51. This arrangement did not preclude each district from having a superintendent of its own. She vacated the position sometime before 1924.
