Ellis E. Clark

He was born in Nebraska and grew up partly in Western Colorado. He worked as a farmer, cattle rancher, a road worker, and an oil company employee. During World War I, he was a riveter helping to build ships in Portland.

Ellsworth Lin Guy

As a child, he lived in St. Joseph, Missouri, then moved to Colorado and went to Colorado College. He left college during World War I, and was sent to Army Officer Training School, where he received a commission as a captain. He was assigned to Fort Monroe outside Washington D.C., and then to Long Island, but did not get overseas before the war ended. He was on active duty for a year and a half, working in an Army discharge center. He was in the Army Reserves until 1940. After his experience in the army, he became a farmer in Redvale, Colorado.

Elmer "Pop" Houston

The father of Colorado Mesa University college president Clifford Houston. He worked as the custodian in Houston Hall, Mesa College’s new building, in the 1940’s. He was well-liked on campus.
