: George Ridley; Upon moving from Denver to Delta in 1903, he opened a jewelry store. After five years in Delta, his family moved to Grand Junction, where he opened another jewelry store on Main Street. He eventually sold his jewelry store to Mr. Templeton, and attended optometry school in Chicago. He returned to Grand Junction and opened an optometry office on the first floor of the Grand Valley Bank. According to oral history interviewee Richard Williams, he built the first house east of 12th Street in Grand Junction. The house was located on 15th Street and Grand Avenue.
