Born in New York City. Graduated from Antioch College in 1952. Received a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Columbia University. Married George Mizner in 1954. Moved to Denver in 1963. Mother of Gail and Susan Mizner. Became a part time resident of Vail in 1974. Retired in 1992 and became a full time resident of Vail. Died Oct. 26, 2011
Joanne Morgan
Joanne Schreck Morgan was born 6 July 1946 and graduated from Abington High School in eastern Pennsylvania. After college, she arrived in Vail on 13 November 1970. In 1976, she married pro-ski racer Paul Jankauskis. After the couple separated, Joanne met and married Lyn Morgan, her husband of nearly forty years. Morgan taught ballet and dance at Vail Valley Academy of Dance, Vail Youth Ballet Company and Colorado Mountain College for many years. Currently, she serves as secretary for Vail Friends of Dance, a non-profit organization that has operated in Eagle County since 1984. Morgan served as designer and production supervisor for the publication, Women of Vail: Those Who Walked This Bridge 1962 – 1970. She also has a featured biography in the publication. In her biography, Morgan reports that working for The Vail Trail “was the best job I’ve ever had.” Morgan served as Art Director for the Knox family newspaper and designed many of its memorable covers.
