He was part of a mining syndicate, and immigrated from Plymouth, England to Central City, Colorado in relation to his work. After marrying Elizabeth J. Johns, he moved to Aspen, Colorado, where he owned a grocery store. Eventually he moved to Grand Junction, Colorado to be close to his son, Stephen John Johns, and grandchildren.

Joe Rodwick was born on December 29, 1909 in Illinois. He came to Lafayette, CO in 1923 and married Ruthene Martin on April 7, 1937. They had two children. He owned the Friendly Market from 1928-1950 and Joe's Market from 1950-1975.

Joseph Sykes Hutchinson

Major Joseph S. Hutchinson, Civil War veteran, moved to the upper Arkansas Valley in 1866. He established the oldest family-owned working ranch in the county and which is now the present-day location of the Hutchinson Ranch on Highway 50 between Salida and Poncha Springs, Colorado.
