Born in Lafayette, CO on January 5, 1916. Ken's father was 21 when he came from England and worked in Lafayette as a coal miner. Ken married Carolyn Brown and they had one daughter.

Kenneth J. Baird

He was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky. In 1934, he graduated from Fern Creek High School. He then received a B.A. from Transylvania University, and later a B.D. from the Lexington Theological Seminary. He served as a minister to Christian churches in Kentucky, Georgia and Texas before coming to Colorado. There, he received a Masters Degree in Social Science from Western State College and attended graduate school at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. He married Frances Bierlin in 1940. They had two children. They lived in Grand Junction for several years, where he was the pastor of the First Christian Church, the Grand Valley Church of the Brethren, and the assistant pastor of the First Congregational Church. He also assisted in the organization of the Koinonia Church. He was interested in local history and an active volunteer with the Mesa County Historical Society.
