: Milford Lloyd Bullington; He was born to Jacob Bullington and Amelia (Ruwwe) Bullington in Oak Hill, Missouri. His father was a farmer and his mother was a homemaker. US Census records show the family living in Kansas in 1930. Jacob and Amelia had moved to Collbran, Colorado by 1940, with Lloyd following to Mesa County after World War II. He enlisted as an Army engineer on October 4th, 1940. He was a member of the 18th Engineers during his training. He and some of his fellows were transferred to Hawaii in August 1941 to form the 804 Aviation Engineers (he spent the trip undergoing treatment for an infected foot which had to be lanced). His group was stationed on Kauai, building a runway. At the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, he and two pals were enjoying a brief holiday using a rented vehicle to sight-see (their trip was curtailed as a result of the bombing). His company was sent to Baker Island, the Gilbert Islands, and the Marianna Islands. His company was sent back to the US in the spring of 1945. He was granted a thirty-day furlough and was assigned to the 268th Air Force Base from July until he was discharged in September at Fort Logan, Denver. He was a Technician 4th Grade (or a technical sergeant) at the time of his discharge. Later, he worked in maintenance as a superintendent. He retired to Fruita, Colorado.
