Artist in Residence: Rachel Campbell-Osborne

Rachel Campbell-Osborne served as the fifteenth Mesa County Libraries Artist in Residence at 970West Studio. The dates of her residency were May 24 - August 30, 2021. During the residency, she kept open studio hours at 970West on Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, allowing her to showcase her art and creative process for Mesa County residents. She also gave seven public, educational programs: En Plein Air Watercolor Painting (Adult workshop): June 8, 10:00-11:30 am, Chinle Cactus Garden (CSU Extension office at the Mesa County Fairgrounds in Orchard Mesa) Saturday, June 26,10:00-11:30 am, Palisade Library Courtyard Thursday, July 8, Central Library Discovery Garden Kids Club Outdoor Watercolors: Artist in Residence Rachel Campbell-Osborne will teach us about easy En Plein Air Watercolor Painting! Rachel Campbell-Osborne Retrospective
Rachel Campbell-Osborne, the fifteenth artist-in-residence at the Mesa County Libraries 970West Studio, talks about using art to make sense of the world and her hope that her art brings happiness to her audience. She speaks about teaching classes on plein air painting through Mesa County Libraries and the value of being prepared to paint on the go. She discusses roller skating and how this hobby functions as a welcome reprieve from her art. She talks about the need to prevent fear from hindering the artist.
